Biography

Jacopo Di Cera, born in Milan in 1981, is an Italian photographer and digital artist whose work intertwines aesthetic research with social awareness, creating a deeply evocative visual language. After an early career in communication, he moved to Rome to study under international masters of photography and founded the artistic movement known as Photomaterism — a poetics that merges matter, light, and technology into powerful visual narratives.

His international recognition came with the 2016 project Fino alla Fine del Mare (“Until the End of the Sea”), which explores the theme of migration through abandoned boats in Lampedusa. The series was exhibited in major art events, including Paris Photo and the Venice Biennale.

Expanding his creative horizon, Di Cera has also embraced aerial photography with the Sospesi series, adopting a godlike perspective from above to observe humanity as a unified whole where social boundaries dissolve.

In recent years, he has ventured into digital and phygital art, with exhibitions held in Milan, New York, Paris, Miami, and Dubai. Combining compositional rigor with poetic sensitivity and social reflection, Jacopo Di Cera transforms the ordinary into thought-provoking visual experiences that bridge art, technology, and human emotion.

Di Cera’s work redefines contemporary photography through a fusion of technique, emotion, and social insight. His vision bridges tradition and innovation, turning observation into contemplation and reality into art.
